The best Performing Governor in KENYA

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has been labelled the best performing governor in Kenya. Some have even called him the only performing governor.
President Kenyatta recently launched the Machakos city project, and the Governor has been personally supervising construction works at the Kenyatta Stadium.
Wrong are you if you thought those were his only major projects.

Here is what Mutua has done in Machakos this year, or plans to do next year.

1. Kenyatta Stadium converted into a 10,000 seater, with new toilets, dressing rooms and a green pitch. Just one months ago, the place was just a patch of dry sand and dust.

2. Construction of the 'Machakos People's Park' a 35-Acre park which sits by Maruba Dam in Machakos Town. It has Africa's only  field Amphitheater, and will be open on Thursday next week.

3. 40 tractors are already ploughing farms for free together with free seed in subsidized fertilizer in a Food Security Subsidy programme.

4. 2 million chicks are being given to the youth in the county.

5. 60 roads in 40 wards will from December 10,2013 start to be repaired and maintained.

6. From January 2014, Ksh. 464M will be used to upgrade 40 Healthcare Centers to Community Hospital standards each with a ward, x-rays lab, mini theatre and maternity.

7. 70 ambulances-one per location will be distributed from December 20th this year.

8. 140 police and specialized vehicles will be launched either late December 2013 or early January 2014. They are in transit in the open seas.

9. Machawood will open its doors in January next year.

10. Machakos Forensics and Research Centre will start operating on January 15, 2014.

11. 800 floodlights will be installed in the county between January and March 2014.

12. 500 CCTVs will be installed in the county by end of January 2014.

13. Water drilling rigs and excavators are on order and will be on the ground from February 2014 to dig 700 boreholes, 500 dams and water pans together with installation of 300 water tanks in Machakos County.

WHEN WE ARE TOO GOOD FOR SOMEONE

Its neither sadness nor disappointment...just a feeling we tend to get when rejected.Tears form,but never get the chance to trickle down the cheeks,on edge ever ready.The many questions that run through ones mind,sadly,non comes with an answer.The feeling of being worthless...value-less...UN-lovable...making you slowly detach from those around.Then we build cocoons,giant walls...around us to shield ourselves from that feeling we know so well.Day by day we watch...we yearn...but...fear still holds us down.Then a time comes,the dawn like spring...all around flourishing we take that step and start breaking from that cocoon...demolish those giant walls...start taking that fragile flight...though not for the first time...we fly as if it is.Then finally...you learn...non but me...can make me feel bad.

WHY WE OFTEN FAIL.

Kenya,a country of many yet a few hold it at ransom.

The few we chose to lead us to prosperity but instead,drive us through a valley full of thorns,while,
they stand at the edge and bid us farewell.As if blind,we move on,persevering the thorns,ditches and  the unbearable conditions.Each season we promise ourselves that "We will have what we want",but instead turn a blind eye.The time will come when we have to stand,and let our actions speak for us.When that time comes,it will already be too late,but as a people who never give up,we stand and start again,for we know that,our country is greater than any soul in it.But until that time comes,like sheep we are,waiting for that Shepard to lead us to greener pastures.

Attempt To Gag Freedom OF Speech

The essence of democracy is that people can participate in public affairs and choose amongst a menu of alternatives ideas. Therefore, democracy is anchored on the presumption that the people know what the different options are and what each means for their individual lives so that they can make informed choices. Therein lies the critical role of the media in a democracy. Without a free media there can be no free exchange of information and ideas. Without a free media there can be no democracy. This is why our constitution underscores the freedom and independence of the media.

Just last week, I wrote on the need for us to allow the truth to come out and cautioned against threats to journalists who expose excesses and shortcomings in public affairs. By exposing these failings, the media has provided Kenyans with a basis upon which they can demand for change. Media freedom is therefore not only critical for democracy, it is also necessary for development. Nonetheless, for the media to be able to carry out their role, they must be able to operate without fear.

Nonetheless, it has to be noted especially that the media has a big impact on the choices that people make. Therefore, this freedom has to be exercised within bounds of responsibility. A professional code of conduct for journalists is therefore necessary to ensure that this freedom is not abused. That notwithstanding, any attempts to regulate the media must live up to the constitutional requirements of independence from control by government, political interests or commercial interests. Any regulation that goes against these principles or that makes it impossible for journalists to do their job is a threat to democracy.

I opposed attempts to gag the media in the 10th parliament as I found it against the fundamentals of democracy and the spirit of the constitution which must be respected at all times

The VAT Effect On KENYANS

As expected the prices of basic commodities have increased after the VAT Act took effect. Since the changes have also affected electricity charges, the costs of these commodities are expected to rise even further since energy is a high component of production. This will make life for the ordinary Kenyans even more difficult than it already is as the cost of living will go up on account of rising inflation.

The changes introduced to the VAT law, we are told, are geared towards attaining simplicity in the tax regime. However, fiscal policy reforms should be entrenched to enhance tax collection so that we avoid the seemingly easier route of taxing basic commodities which hurt the common mwananchi.

KRA must deepen and broaden its coverage ensure that revenue is collected from Kenyans who are currently not captured by the tax regime especially those in the huge transport and real estate sectors. KRA must also eliminate corruption within the tax system to ensure revenue is collected and seal loopholes that are exploited by tax evasion. We can raise more than the requisite revenue in this way and avoid the temptation to tax basic commodities that ordinary Kenyans depend on.

As I have always said, as we seek to improve revenue management we must also curb wasteful recurrent expenditure. Controlling government's recurrent expenditure is the only way we can put government's appetite for revenue in check.

Taxes are what decent societies pay for services. Therefore, while it is the right of the government to levy and collect taxes, it is the right of the people to get the services for which they pay.  For Kenyans to appreciate taxation, the fiscal policy framework must promote fairness and justice while also ensuring that the tax we pay visibly contributes to socio-economic development by way of service delivery.

TIME TO BUILD KENYA

The recent political wrangles between Raila Odinga and the Jubilee government is a show of how some of our leaders have selfish motives.Its been three months since the announcement of the winner during the general elections.As a good Kenyan Citizen,he went to the courts to try and annul the election results but did not win.Now he is trying to Destabilize the running of the central government by trying to convince HIS supporters that am president ought to be elected by the #MPs.The time is now for him to STOP and concentrate on uniting Kenyans instead of trying to divide us.He lost,acceptance should be a vocabulary.
I am speaking as a PATRIOTIC KENYAN CITIZEN who would do anything to protect the Sovereignty of OUR beloved NATION.Time to focus on the present and future,those who dwell on the past never get to live the present.   

The ticking Time Bomb

The tension between different countries is on the rise,a sign of dangers to come.The worlds population is increasingly growing larger each day thus the need for planet earth to put up its defense mechanism on high alert.Recent tensions between the East and the Western nations are a perfect example of what is to come though slow.The need for a lesser population is a major factor thats going to cause the eruption of World War 3,but it wont be the traditional combat methods rather a whole new method-CHEMICAL WARFARE...A source in a military laboratory has confirmed that a leading super power is on the verge of testing its Survival of the fittest weapon.Its basically designed to eradicate all weak gene pools in the society.An example of a failed version was the NH1 virus that didn't achieve the desired outcome.The only bit remaining is looking for a war...which is about to happen.Some of the super rich have already started building bunkers in specific save zone countries in Africa.Lets wait and see the outcome.
